Product Description: Habit: clustering; ‘climbing rattan’, up to 30m long. Leaf sheath: 2-6cm diameter; green. Sheath spine: densely spiny; a mixture of short and long spines up to ca. 6cm long; flat; light brown to black; base light green; flexible. Knee: conspicuous; knot-shaped; green to light brown-yellow; moderately sparse to dense spines. Ocrea: 0.1-0.2cm long; dark brown; bristles absent. Climbing organ: cirrus 50-80cm long. Leaf: 100-250cm log; petiole 20-50cm long; rachis 165-220cm; upper surface lack of spine, with a prominent mid vein, back surface and margin with sparse spines; longest spines at base of petiole 4-6cm long; petiole 4-6cm long; leaf apex ended with cirrus. Leaflets regular; 50-100 on each side of rachis. Leaf lets of middle rachis 30-75 x 1.5-3cm; linear; base broadly cuneate; margin bristly; apex narrowly acuminate; mid vein prominent; both surfaces sparsely bristled along veins. Cane: 1-3cm diameter; internodes 10-25cm long; durable and flexible. Inflorescence: enclosed by bract; 17-40cm long; primary bract boat-shaped with moderately sparse spines on above surface; fails when fruits mature; female inflorescence 2-branched; male inflorescence 4—branched; branches zigzag. Fruit: 1-1.9 x 1-1.9cm; globose to ovoid; scale light brown with dull brown margin; perianth. Seed is ruminating

Description: It is generally widespread across the country. It prefers moist areas of semi-evergreen forest, evergreen forest and riparian forest. About sea level to 500m altitude.

Uses: Its cane is flexible and durable, and thus preferred for bending as a decoration of furniture production. Its palm heart (shoot) is edible and eaten by local communities as vegetable.

Market Information: It is heavily collected for either domestic or international trade but its harvesting volume is not known. A raw cane of 4-5m long is 300-500 riel, and the price is up to 1200 riel a cane of the same length after first stage processing
