Uses: Bark mixed with Osalis spp reputed to cure body odour in infants.Powdered bark mixed with water applied to body as well as eaten to put on weight.

Management Practices: The medicine has to be given to all the children in the village at the same time. Fruit medicinal. Bees forage on flowers. Fruits eaten by barking deer, Sambhar, Mouse deer. Tree not cut for firewood locally. Irula flute made with this tree. A piece of bark kept in the mouth while plying the flute, helps to hold breath for longer periods.
