Product Description: A medium sized deciduous tree. Flower: In axillary spikes, cream. Fruit: A drupe, obovoid or oblong or ellipsoid, glossy green - brown, ridged. Seed one. Bark dark brown. Leaves densely woolly below, with 2 glands at the base of the leaf blade. Flowers have no petals. New foliage: February – March.

Description: Hills800-1400m in deciduous forests. Grows to be a large tree in good soil, but a small one in dry rocky places.

USES AND PARTS USED

Parts Used: bark, bast fruits
Uses: Bark medicinal Fruit seed in industry for dying and tanning.
Origin:
Management Practices: The bitter fruit is crushed and given to children to help them sleep well. Also used as a cure for dental cavities, cough and to clean the lungs of smokers. Cumin turmeric and kadukai are powdered and mixed together with milk and given orally for relief from pain. Nutmeg, honey and kadukai is also given to children to build immunity.
