Product Description: A medium sized of tree. Flowers are solitary, and bright yellow, with prominent sepals. Flowering happens when all the leaves have fallen. Fruits are 3-5 valved, brown. Seeds many surrounded by pale white cottony hair. Leaves glabrous above, densely brownish tomentose below.

Countries Found: India 
Description: 300-900m found in deciduous forests of the lower slopes, grassy and close to cliffs. Western Sub Himalyan tract from the Sutlej east wards, drier parts of the Peninsula. Less common on the West Ghats. 

USES AND PARTS USED

Parts Used: bark, bast 
Uses: Bark and fruit medicinal. A mixture of rice and juggery is put inside the pods and plastered with mud. This is placed in burning embers and allowed to cooked. A special sweet rice is c ooked in this manner.
